DL TIPPIN / TAMPA

David L. Tippin Water Treatment Facility

7125 N. 30th Street, Tampa, FL 33610

Eastcoast Concrete undertook a monumental endeavor with the DL Tippin / Tampa project, situated in the heart of Florida's bustling city. This ambitious venture involved the retrofitting of a vital water treatment facility, serving as the primary source of drinking water for 94% of Tampa's population while housing millions of gallons of water.

The project's complexity stemmed from the need to retrofit within an operational facility, heightening the stakes for precision and safety. With walls towering between 23 to 33 feet, the pressure on the team escalated, necessitating meticulous planning and heavy bracing to safeguard both personnel and the job site.

At its core, the project focused on the construction of three pivotal structures: a high service pump station, a chlorine contact basin, and a center clear well. However, the scope extended beyond these main components, encompassing a myriad of supporting structures such as pump pads, electrical buildings, roads, sidewalks, and more.

Excavation posed a significant challenge, demanding strategic maneuvering within the confined space of an active facility. Utilizing innovative gang forms, the team poured an impressive 6,000 to 7,000 yards of concrete, laying the foundation for the project's success.

Through meticulous planning, diligent execution, and an unwavering focus on safety, the DL Tippin / Tampa project stands as a testament to the company's ability to overcome challenges and deliver exceptional results, ensuring the continued provision of clean, safe drinking water to the residents of Tampa for years to come.
