FORT MYERS
Fort Myers WTP RO
The Fort Myers Water Treatment Plant, operated by the City of Fort Myers Utilities Department, supplies potable drinking water to nearly 100,000 residents through a reverse osmosis treatment process that utilizes groundwater drawn from deep wells within the Upper Floridan Aquifer. The facility operates continuously and has a rated treatment capacity of approximately 13 million gallons per day. Originally constructed in 1991 and expanded in 2002, the plant consistently meets or exceeds state and federal drinking water regulations and remains a critical component of the region’s public utility infrastructure.
EC Concrete’s involvement in the project supports the construction phase of these improvements by providing structural concrete services associated with plant infrastructure and equipment support systems. As a licensed construction contractor operating in Southwest Florida, EC Concrete contributes to the installation of foundational elements, equipment pads, and other reinforced concrete structures necessary to support treatment process components and site improvements.

The current expansion and modernization program represents a significant capital investment intended to support future population growth and strengthen system resiliency. Engineering and construction oversight services for the project are being provided by Carollo Engineers as part of a broader initiative valued at approximately $80 million. Project improvements include additional treatment capacity, modernization of electrical and control systems, and installation of new process equipment designed to improve efficiency and operational flexibility. Construction activities began in 2025 and are expected to continue for multiple years while the plant remains operational.

Through this work, EC Concrete is helping facilitate the physical expansion and modernization of the water treatment facility, contributing to the successful implementation of a critical municipal infrastructure project serving the residents of Fort Myers.
